Who is Irish Video?
Irish Video is a production company set up by Colin Browne and Nicole Hodson in 2005. Colin has over 10 years of experience in the video and film industry and Nicole's background is in publishing.
We have an editing studio located in Lusk, Co Dublin as well as working out of Rosslare, Co Wexford.
We also produce video for the corporate and events sector in Ireland and have worked with many blue chip companies.
We produce and duplicate DVDs for other studios and companies, in addition we provide film equipment hire.
We are a fully insured and VAT registered company.
Why hire a videographer?
A video conveys sights and sounds in a way still pictures cannot. If you could look into the future and ask your children if they would like to see the photographs or the video from your wedding, I think the answer would be straight forward. It is also one of the few times you will have all your family and friends together, so what a perfect time to have it recorded.
Do you record the full ceremony?
Yes we do, many videographers may leave out some parts, for instance the communion, but we believe that everything should be included. The communion for instance is a good opportunity to record most of the people attending your wedding.
We also record the full greeting line for the same reason. Again some videographers may omit most of this.
How long is the completed DVD?
This varies as each wedding is unique, however, for a full day package you will recieve two disks which will total 2 - 2.5 hours in length.
How many DVDs will I get?
Each person in your bridal party will receive a mini DVD with a short version of your wedding. This mini wedding DVD makes a great 'Thank you' gift.
The bride and groom's wedding DVD will come in a leather case and two other copies
come in a white embossed case with a choice of titles such as "Our Daughter's Wedding" ,
"Our Son's Wedding" or "Our Wedding".
How long will it take to get our weddings DVDs?
During the peak season it will take around 12 weeks, less during off-peak season. We put a huge amount of time and effort into editing and producing your DVD; typically three days per wedding.
What equipment to you use?
We use Canon XL2 cameras.
We also rent equipment to other producers and studios for use on film and video projects. All our microphones, tripods etc are those used on most film sets; in other words of the highest quality.
How do you get such good sound?
We typically use three microphones to capture sound at the church. We record directly from the church sound system. We can also use a small wireless tie mic on the groom if he so wishes. This is the best way to pick up the vows, however, if the groom is not comfortable with this we also place a small boundary mic close to the altar which can also pick up the vows; although this method is not as good. If the priest uses a church microphone during this part of the ceremony then the sound quality is also excellent.
We also use what's called a shotgun mic; which can pick up sound at a distance and this is our fail safe mic - so if all else fails we can use this.
Sometimes problems do occur; a church sound system will fail, a priest may forget to switch on a microphone for the readings therefore ensuring you have planned for the occurances seperates the professional from the amateur.
May I choose my own music for the video?
Yes of course, you can choose the music for the montages which is two if you have the full day package. The songs must be provided prior to the wedding.
May we include photographs?
Yes of course, we use credit titles at the end and we encourage couples to send us some honeymoon shots as this closes the story quite nicely. There is no charge for this.
Does the DVD include a chapter selection menu?
Yes, we use full chaptered menus for your DVDs.
Do you use bright lights?
Using lights was something necessary with older generation cameras however are not necessary with the current generation. On occasions the lights are turned down very low during the dancing and a small camera light may be necessary, although this is extremely rare.
